Colin Pratt

Image-empty-state.png

Colin Pratt is an encaustic artist, working with beeswax – an ancient medium that has a track record of longevity. Colin is mostly self-taught and loves when the challenges of working with pigmented beeswax are rewarded by the colours and opacity/translucency which create texture and depth, and the possibilities of this medium seem endless. Apart from traditional pigments, a selection of crushed natural oches, marri and grass tree resins, and ash/charcoal are also incorporated into the wax to expand the colour palette. Colin has been a working artist for over 22 years, working out of the Commonage Pottery and Gallery (at Happs Winery, Dunsborough). He also conducts encaustic workshops and has exhibited widely.
