Melissa Clements
Melissa Clements is a portrait artist who explores notions of time, purpose, personal identity and development. Her hyper real portraits echo the traditional practice of Italian and Flemish old masters like Caravaggio and Rembrandt, merging conventional method and technique to discuss contemporary narratives. Melissa is a two times semi-finalist in the prestigious Lester Prize in 2017 and 2019 and has been exhibited at the Art Gallery of Western Australia for The Corsini Collection: Revisited exhibition. In 2018, Melissa completed a month-long residency at the New York Academy of Art. She hosted her first solo exhibition in 2019, entitled Fracture.
