Elizabeth Richards
The visual art Elizabeth practices is centred on capturing the beauty in small ephemeral objects, such as flowers. She photographs them at the height of their beauty then blows up the image to paint on large canvases. Elizabeth works in a photorealistic style with oil paint, so that the once fleeting beauty of the flower is captured, dramatically enlarged, and will last for a lifetime. Due to her design background, Elizabeth’s work has a very graphic quality, with much attention paid to bold composition and colour. Elizabeth enjoys the intensity and detail of her work and it requires a lot of patience and concentration. Her reward is seeing a small beautiful bloom transformed into a large dramatic piece of art. Her work is in private collections throughout Perth.
