Penny Baker lives and works near the beautiful Kalgan River in Albany, Western Australia. She is a contemporary watercolour artist who studied Fine Art at Curtin University. Penny is an avid gardener and delights in every aspect of the botanical world. Her artworks reflect this and she often paints in the genre of still life, enjoying the idea of stopping to observe, ponder and delight in the intricacies of life. Just as her garden is filled with colour, pattern, texture and an ever-changing canvas, Penny is also inspired by botanical textile patterns from different countries, ages and pieces of sentimental value. She enjoys bringing them into her work and connecting the garden with the home and our need to be surrounded by nature.
