Since graduating in 2004 with a Bachelor of Fine Art, Margaret Heenan has focused on kiln formed glass. Her work has two distinct looks: linear and painterly. Preferring her glass to be considered as artwork as opposed to functional pieces. Of her linear pieces - "I am attracted by the orderly, colourful and repetitive patterns seen in vintage design of the 60's and 70's as they appeared on the mass market – for example textiles, wallpaper and home wares. The outcome is considered, predictable and popular." As opposed to the painterly – "Like many artists it is strongly influenced by the Australian landscape which offers wondrous colours, shapes and complexity. The results are often unpredictable and serendipitous." Margaret works from her Perth home studio with two outside kilns. Her work is held in private collections in England, South Africa, Australia, Canada and America.
