Knight is a Perth based artist and educator who works across the mediums of painting and sculpture. Her current body of work explores mixed media to create rich, evocative and surreal spaces. Knight often explores the links she has with the Western Australian bush, growing up on the edge of virgin bushland. Her close connections to the South West, has been enriched by living and working in the Warren Blackwood region for some years. Working with acrylics, oils, gold leaf and collage, Knight's works often use animal and plant life to create scenes rich in metaphor. She has been an art educator for over 28 years, and throughout this time Knight has always maintained her own practice, occasionally exhibiting in group shows and completing commissions in both sculpture and 2D works. Her new body of work often incorporates the use of mixed media which has liberated the acquisition of imagery and enabled the creative process to flow in a more intuitive way. This has also enabled Knight to enjoy the strong visual contrast between traditional media of paint and mixed media.
